DupShelf

DupShelf

Clean duplicate photos on your laptop (India-friendly, private)

Slow internet and large galleries make cloud duplicate cleaners painful. DupShelf runs locally so you can clean a full laptop library without uploading gigabytes.

Common situations in India

  • WhatsApp forwards and status saves in Downloads
  • Multiple copies after Google Photos or Drive sync
  • Festival and wedding photo bursts from phones
  • Shared USB drives between family members

Scenario: laptop storage warning at 95%

Start with Downloads and Desktop image folders (often 5–20 GB of duplicates). Scan, move exact copies to dupshelf-duplicate-images, delete that folder after review, then scan Pictures if you still need space.

Scenario: slow home broadband

Cloud cleaners upload your entire library first. DupShelf never uploads photos, so cleanup works on patchy Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot without burning data.

Scenario: shared family laptop

Each person’s WhatsApp saves may duplicate the same festival album. Scan the shared Downloads folder once, pick one keeper per group, and avoid deleting unique photos by mistake (exact match only).

Works on everyday hardware

Start with a smaller folder if RAM is limited. Progress, cancel, and estimated move time are built in. Scan Downloads first, then Pictures or an external drive.
